A forma da rosca trapezoidal corresponde a um trapézio isósceles com um ângulo de 15°. Isto resulta num ângulo de flanco de 30°. Devido à sua forma especial, a rosca trapezoidal pode transmitir muito bem forças axiais e movimentos muito elevados. Esta rosca especial é utilizada, por exemplo, em grampos de parafuso, torno de bancada, fresadoras CNC, tornos e empilhadores. A rosca é designada pela abreviatura "Tr", o diâmetro e o passo da rosca.

 

Eis um exemplo: Tr 14 x 3 é uma rosca trapezoidal com um diâmetro de 14 mm e um passo de rosca de 3 mm.
